Sun to Shade; Shale barrens, poor gravel banks; Another close relative of nodding onion (Along with Allegheny onion) this one grows in the driest poorest soils possible and would make a good green roof plant. Similar to nodding onion it differs in being generally smaller and sparser in habit as well as having pure white flowers with greenish mid-ribs. 6-8" tall; Blooming July-August; Zone 3-8; WV, VA ecotypes
