Carex fraseriana (Frasers Sedge)

10.00

Formerly Cymophyllus; Shade, part shade; rich, cool woodsy soil; when I first saw this plant growing on a shady slope with hemlocks and rhododendron it reminded me of tropical epiphytes growing on trees in the rain forest of Dominica; it has long glossy, evergreen strap-like leaves about 1.5” wide and numerous flowers on naked stems that are like little white pom-poms; an unusual and attractive plant; can be used in cool, rich woodland gardens with good drainage, together with spring wildflowers; plants 1’ tall; blooms April-May; zones 5-8; WV. ecotype
