Part sun to shade; Moist sandy soil; Neat little grass that grows in wet sandy woodlands and thickets especially in the Coast. Short grassy foliage throughout the summer give way to slender stalks covered in tiny flat oat-like seeds. The effect is subtle and billowy especially if a ray of sun is reflected off the seeds. The leaves turn a tawny brown or orange in the fall. Grows 1-2' tall; Zone 6-9; PA ecotype
