Wild hydrangea is a medium sized shrub between 4 and 6 feet tall. It grows in shady woodlands often on slopes and ravines where deer can get at them. Large leaves are topped by white fertile flowers (rarely has any sterile flowers in the cluster) in June-July. Flowers occur on new growth. Zone 3-9. WV ecotype
