Linum lewisii - Appalachian strain (Lewis' Flax)

7.00

Lewis' flax is largely a plant of the mountains and prairies of Western North America. However there is a rare disjunct population found in the Appalachian Mountains of West Virginia. We have continued to grow this strain in the nursery despite the especially difficult cultural requirements of the plant. It needs an especially dry, well-drained gravelly soil. Minus the soil. It really likes to grow in almost pure limestone rock. Try it. Good luck! Delicate arching stems tipped with pale blue flowers from April to August will be your reward. Zone 3-9. WV ecotype.
