Rhododendron arborescens (Sweet Azalea)

Sweet Azalea can grow to large size (8-20 feet tall) sometimes appearing tree-like. 12 foot tall maximum is more typical though. Plants have white flowers with pink anthers from May to June and the flowers are extremely fragrant. Usually grows in moist lowland woods with rich, humusy, acidic and well-drained soil. Part sun if preferred. Zone 4-7. PA ecotype.
