Shortbeard plumegrass is similar to the Sugarcane plumegrass but shorter and more narrow in flower and in seed. It Grows in Moist to average sandy meadows and woods edges in the coastal Plain and Piedmont of the Southeast. Grows 6-8 feet tall. Can seed around to form large patches. Zone 6-10; VA ecotype.
