Scutellaria ovata ssp. rugosa (Heart Leaved Skullcap)

7.00

Sun to light shade; very well-drained, sandy, gritty, or shaley, soil; being only 6”-12” tall, this intriguing little skullcap offers weeks of violet, lipped flowers and handsome metallic, beet-red veined heart-shaped leaves. One of the nicest skullcap species I have seen, and a desirable plant for rock gardens, shale banks, or dry, sandy soil.  blooms April-July; zones 4-8; WV. VA. ecotypes, shale barren form.
