Mountain goldenrod looks like wreath goldenrod's (Solidago caesia) big brother. 3-4' tall this plant has an upright habit and narrow leaves. Yellow flowers appear in axillary clusters all along the stem from September to October. The typical form of this plant can only be found in mountainous areas from Pennsylvania to Alabama. It is probably adaptable to cool woodland gardens with rich loamy soil and a northern exposure. Zone 5-8. VA ecotype.
