Yellow pimpernel is a subtle wispy perennial carrot family member with golden yellow flowers and red stems sporting leaves like columbine. Prefers to grow in dry sunny meadows to dry shady woodlands. Soils should be well drained. Eastern red columbine is a perfect companion. Grows 2-3 feet tall. Flowers occur in May-June. Another host for black swallowtail butterflies. Zone 4-8. WV. ecotype.
