Meadow Parsnip is a small, wispy member of the carrot family and superficially resembles Zizia (Golden Alexanders) but with a preference for upland, rocky habitats in sun or part shade. There are two forms of this plant, one yellow and one purple. This is the yellow flowered form. Grows 8-10 inches tall and blooms in the early spring (April-May). Leaves are semi-evergreen and often bronze or purple in the winter. Looks great with Silene virginica or Aquilegia. Zone 3-9. VA ecotype.
