Very rare plant in the east this small buttercup relative is restricted to calcareous fens and swamps. It can be cultivated however in moist gardens along small streams and creeks similar to marsh marigold. Growing 1-2' tall and spreading slowly by seeds that follow large yellow flowers that fade to white. flowering occurs from April to May with occasional reblooming. Wet mineral-rich soils in full sun to part-shade. Zone 3-6. Unknown eastern ecotype.
