Part to full shade; This small shrub grows 3-6 feet tall and inhabits rich woodlands. Lightly stoloniferous it can form large colonies and can make up a significant potion of a woodland understory where found. White clusters of flowers appear in June-July followed by black fruits that ripen in fall. Relished by birds! Fall color is a gentle pink to shades of orange or red. Zone 3-8; WV ecotype.
