Coast violet occurs in coastal swamps and peaty wetlands from Maine to South Carolina. preference is for full sun to part shade. Leaves are deeply dissected like bird-foot violet. Flowers are large and reddish-violet blooming may-June. 2-3" tall. Zone 3-8. NJ ecotype.
