Golden Alexanders is a great early blooming perennial member of the carrot family. One of the hosts for the black swallowtail butterfly. This plant usually grows in extensive colonies in wet meadows and flood-plains. Typical companions include River oats, Obedient plant, Golden Groundsel, and Star Tickseed. Not fussy about sun exposure or soil type as long as it's not too dry or too deeply shady. Grows 1-3 feet tall. Yellow flowers from April to May. Zone 3-8. VA. ecotype.
