Meadow beauty is a lover of acidic, sandy wetlands. Often found in the coastal plain it can also be found in the Piedmont and the mountains in isolated habitats. Adaptable to a cultivated wet garden such as a rain garden or pond edge. Full sun; moist, acid sandy soil; appearance is similar to R. marilandica but a little shorter with more intense pink flowers about 1” across; seed capsules resemble little, red urns; good self-seeder once established; blooms July-Sept; zones 4-9; Long Island, NY ecotype
